Drew has deep experience in research, strategy and finance in media and digital media sectors. He has been a leading equity analyst, banker, portfolio manager, and investor/advisor to early stage companies.
In addition to being a Venture Partner with Walden, Drew is a Senior Advisor to the TMT (Technology, Media, Communications) investment banking and capital markets group at Guggenheim Securities. Drew was Vice Chairman of Global Banking at Deutsche Bank. Marcus was also a Managing Director, Global Head of Media Research and Senior Media Analyst and a founder of the Media Group at Alex. Brown Inc. As an analyst, Drew covered broadcasting, outdoor, entertainment and publishing sectors. He was the number one ranked Broadcasting Analyst in surveys conducted by Institutional Investor and The Wall Street Journal. In addition, he is an eight-time Institutional Investor “All American” and a six-time Wall Street Journal "Master Stock Picker.” While in research and banking, Drew was involved in over 200 transactions valued at over $100 billion, including over 50 lead managed IPOs. As a Portfolio Manager and Managing Partner of SLRC Media Opportunities Fund, he ran a long/short debt and equity fund with a focus on Media and Technology. Drew has or is serving on the advisory boards of Pandora and SoundHound among others.
Education: Drew graduated from the University of Michigan with an A.B. in Economics and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Mr. Marcus is on on the University of Michigan Economics Leadership Council, the Endowment Committee at the Greenwich Country Day School and on the Advisory Board at the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich.
